Happy 4th of July!
Fireworks are everywhere. Are you, as a caregiver, able to attend a community fireworks display? The fireworks are amazing but they also got me thinking about our personalities. I have been both a “bottle rocket” and a “sparkler”. There were times in caring for my mother-in-law when I would become a bottle rocket. I would get annoyed during the day at something she would say or do and bottle up that annoyance until my husband came home. THEN, I would let the “bottle rocket” explode.
I would much rather be a “sparkler”. Steady, sparkling light in an otherwise dark night. Caregiving can have many dark moments, but we can provide a sparkle with our patient, smiling attitude.
Proverbs 17:22 “A merry heart does good like a medicine: but a broken spirit dries the bones.”
My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. (Proverbs 1:10).
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (Matthew 6:24).
